AI Watchlist – Tracking AI in Film

Explore how AI is shaping the movie industry. Our color-coded rating system reveals the level of AI involvement in your favorite films.

How It Works

0 - 30

Rating

A movie or show was 100% made by humans. Anything green indicates that little AI was used (such as digital tools), but no generative chatbots or AI-generated art was involved. Examples include most CGI, digital editing software, manual color correction, and digital de-aging—voice modulation and digitally de-aging cast living actors.

40 - 50

Rating

It indicates that studios or creatives substituted certain parts of the creative process with AI tools, such as reviving dead actors with the family’s consent or using dead actors’ voice lines with an AI algorithm. However, it was still mostly made by humans. Likewise, human actors were used to replace the deceased, and any digital de-aging was done with the original person, not to replace them.

60 - 70

Rating

AI tools are frequently used in the creative process with permission to substitute real people for specific roles. AI-generated backgrounds, extras, or actors replaced artists and creatives.

80 - 100

Rating

AI art and tools replace the creative process. Actors are digitally revived without the actor’s and family’s permission. AI art is directly used, and/or scripts are written with ChatGPT. Animation or CGI uses AI models rather than animators for the complete runtime.
